The decision of Great Britain and Portugal to officially recognize the state of Palestine comes ahead of the UN debates, where the two-state solution will be discussed. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that this recognition will support a peace process, despite opposition from Israel. At the same time, Portugal confirmed that it will make a similar announcement, citing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Israel's threats to annex territories.
