In a recent report, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights documents the widespread torture of civilian detainees in the occupied regions of Ukraine, including sexual violence. Investigators interviewed 216 released civilians, 92% of whom reported severe beatings, electric shocks, and death threats. The report also mentions cases of torture by Ukrainian authorities, highlighting the need to respect the rights of detainees in any peace negotiations.
