The American military confirmed on Friday that all six crew members of the KC-135 refueling aircraft, which crashed in western Iraq, have died. The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the incident was not caused by enemy fire.
The aircraft crashed during a refueling mission on March 12, and it was initially reported that four crew members had died. This tragedy raises the toll of Operation Epic Fury to at least 13 deaths, of which seven were killed in action, and approximately 140 American soldiers were injured, eight of them seriously. The incident highlights the increased risks of military operations in the Middle East.
