The police in India discovered a network of suspects selling liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, both commercial and domestic, from a cemetery, at prices up to three times higher than those on the market. A commercial cylinder, which normally costs about 2,100 Indian rupees (22 dollars), was sold for up to 6,000 rupees.
Authorities have intensified raids to combat the accumulation of LPG cylinders, after international conflicts disrupted maritime transport, causing supply shortages. During a press conference, Sujata Sharma, an official from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, stated that approximately 2,600 raids had been conducted, confiscating around 700 cylinders.
Among these, 400 cylinders were found in a single location in a cemetery in Hyderabad, and ten people were arrested. The total value of the confiscated goods amounts to nearly 2.2 million rupees.
