The Pentagon is analyzing the possibility of redirecting some weapons intended for Ukraine to the Middle East, in the context of the rapid consumption of American ammunition in the conflict with Iran.
Among the targeted weapons are air defense interceptors, such as the Patriot and THAAD systems, essential for the defense of the United States and its allies.
The Ukrainian Ambassador to the U.S., Olga Stefanishyna, stated that Kyiv is keeping its partners informed about its needs, while also acknowledging the current uncertainty. While the PURL initiative continues to supply missiles to Ukraine, European concerns are growing regarding the impact of rapid ammunition consumption on future deliveries. The U.S. military has already redirected missiles from other regions to strengthen defense in the Middle East, which could affect Ukraine's air defense capabilities.
