The Pentagon has asked the American defense industry to accelerate the production and delivery of weapons, amid the reduction of stocks of certain weapons considered critical after the war with Iran. The request was sent to the industry through a document signed by the Deputy Secretary of Defense, Steve Feinberg, whose authenticity was confirmed by Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell.

Companies in the defense industry have been given a deadline of no more than three weeks to present plans regarding the reduction of delivery times and, where possible, increasing production for capabilities considered critical. Feinberg criticized the current duration of development cycles, which he considers too long.

According to estimates from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), the U.S. had just under 830 Patriot missiles at the end of July, down from over 2,300 before the war with Iran. In the case of THAAD interceptors, the estimated stock has decreased from 452 to 278 missiles in the same period.
