The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the deployment of a Patriot system in Malatya, intended to support the protection of the country's airspace. This area is known for the Kurecik airbase, which hosts a NATO early warning radar system capable of detecting missile launches from Iran.

Recently, an incident occurred when a ballistic missile launched from Iran was intercepted by NATO defense systems in the eastern Mediterranean, marking the second such incident in five days. Turkish authorities confirmed that missile fragments fell in open ground south of Gaziantep, without causing casualties.

This action underscores the effectiveness of NATO air defense systems in protecting Turkish airspace.
