The sky in Great Britain was spectacularly illuminated in shades of green and pink due to the natural phenomenon known as the Northern Lights. This phenomenon occurs as a result of solar eruptions that send particles towards Earth, interacting with particles in the atmosphere. Usually, the Northern Lights are visible near the Arctic Circle, but during periods of intense solar activity, they can also be observed in other regions. Photographs sent to the BBC capture stunning images of the light observed on Monday evening in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, as well as in areas of the southwest, south, east, and northern England.
