The Dutch government will activate the first phase of an energy crisis plan on Monday, according to the ANP agency, which cites government sources. This is the first time the plan, developed in the context of the energy crisis caused by Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, will be implemented.

Activating the first stage involves careful monitoring of fuel markets, without registering an immediate shortage. At this stage, the government and the industrial sector are preparing for a possible deterioration of the energy situation.

Prime Minister Rob Jetten announced that on Monday measures to compensate citizens will be presented, which could include tax benefits for vehicle owners, but not a reduction in fuel taxes. These measures are intended to help the population in the face of rising energy costs.
