The Louvre Museum has announced a 45% increase in the entrance ticket price for visitors from outside the European Economic Area, starting from January 14, 2026. Thus, they will pay 32 euros, which is 10 euros more than currently. The Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, explained that this differentiated pricing policy is intended to support the funding of certain museum projects.

In 2024, 77% of visitors were foreigners, mostly from the USA and China. The Louvre Museum already offers discounts for certain categories of visitors, but the Ministry of Culture has confirmed that there will be no discussion about changing these rates.

The decision comes in the context of security issues and a recent jewelry heist, highlighting the need for adequate funding for the institution. The measure aligns with a similar policy in the USA, where foreign tourists will pay additional fees for national parks.
