Denis Kapustin, also known as Denis Nikitin or White Rex, was the leader of the Russian Volunteer Corps (RVC), a far-right paramilitary unit fighting alongside the Ukrainian army. He was killed on Saturday night in the Zaporozhye region during a combat mission, according to an announcement made by the RVC.

The group has promised to avenge his death and will provide further details after an investigation. Kapustin, a neo-Nazi born in Moscow, moved to Kyiv in 2017 and founded the RVC at the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022. The RVC aims to overthrow Putin and create an ethnic Russian state. Kapustin was included in the Russian federal register of 'terrorists and extremists' in March 2023 and was wanted by Russian authorities. He also had a ban on entering the Schengen area since 2019, but continued far-right activities in Europe.
