A drone that crashed on the night from Thursday to Friday over a residential block in Galați, in the context of a Russian airstrike on Ukraine, has been identified as being of Russian origin, according to the spokesperson for the Supreme Allied Command in Europe, Martin O'Donnell.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense confirmed that the drone is of the Geran-2 type. Despite this confirmation, Russian President Vladimir Putin disputed the origin of the drone and called for an investigation into the wreckage. Putin mentioned that Ukrainian drones have recently entered the airspace of several European countries, suggesting that their initial reactions were similar to those in Romania. Additionally, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev warned European leaders that stray drones will continue to reach their countries, emphasizing their involvement in the conflict with Russia.
