The Kremlin is preparing for the defeat of the Fidesz party, led by Viktor Orban, in the parliamentary elections in Hungary scheduled for April 12. Sources close to the Russian administration told the publication Meduza that, despite the support given, Orban has failed to achieve the desired result. This loss will be interpreted by Russian propaganda as an 'orange revolution', carried out with the help of the European Union. Although there were initially hopes for a victory for Orban, the Kremlin has come to recognize the impossibility of this scenario. Polls show that the Tisza party, led by Péter Magyar, has a 13 percent lead over Fidesz. Orban, in power since 2010, has modified the electoral system to secure his advantage, but now faces strong opposition. The Kremlin has tried to influence the elections by promoting Orban's image and cyberattacks on rivals, but the Russian Embassy in Budapest has denied any direct involvement in the electoral campaign. The elections on April 12 are considered the most important in Hungary since the fall of communism, and the voting conditions are not fair, according to Politico's analysis.
