After deliberations lasting under two hours, a jury rejected the accusations made by Elon Musk against Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, concluding a tense chapter in the rivalry between the two billionaires.

Musk filed the lawsuit in 2024, claiming that OpenAI and Altman violated commitments to maintain the organization as a non-profit. The jury agreed that Altman and OpenAI are not liable, and Musk's attorney, Steven Molo, mentioned that he would appeal. Musk asked the court to compel OpenAI and Microsoft to forfeit illegally obtained profits, estimating them at 134 billion dollars. He stated that his donations of 38 million dollars were made to develop artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity, not for personal profit. OpenAI's lawyers argued that the restructuring of the company was necessary to compete in a costly market.

The verdict comes at a crucial moment as both billionaires prepare for record offers in the capital markets, with OpenAI having a valuation of over 850 billion dollars, and Musk preparing for the IPO of SpaceX, valued at 1.25 trillion dollars.
