The Irish government will deploy the army on the streets due to massive protests.

The Irish government has announced that it will deploy armed forces to clear the roads and energy facilities blocked by protesters demonstrating against rising fuel prices. Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan stated that the army will collaborate with the Garda (Irish police) to reopen essential transport routes. The protests, which began on Tuesday, have led to the blockage of arteries in major cities and roads to refineries, causing traffic chaos.

O'Callaghan emphasized that blocking critical infrastructure is an unacceptable violation of human rights and called for the immediate removal of vehicles. Prime Minister Micheal Martin defended the patience of the security forces but criticized the intensity of the protests, stating that they have exceeded acceptable limits. Martin highlighted that blocking main arteries affects the economy and is not a proper form of protest.
