Democrats in the House of Representatives revealed articles of impeachment against Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth on Wednesday, accusing him of crimes and abuses in managing the war in Iran. The resolution, led by Representative Yassamin Ansari, includes six articles that claim Hegseth ignored the Constitution and abused his power, causing civil damage, including following the bombing of a girls' school in Iran, which resulted in 168 deaths.
It is also claimed that Hegseth disclosed sensitive information about military operations and obstructed constitutional oversight. Although the efforts will not succeed this year due to the Republican majority, Democrats may resume the initiative after the elections. Pentagon Press Secretary Kingsley Wilson criticized the initiative, calling it a distraction from the achievements of the Department of Defense. Impeachment is a complex process, and Hegseth would become the third cabinet official subjected to this procedure.
