German Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized the necessity for Russia to participate in negotiations regarding Ukraine, a day after discussions in Geneva, which generated a "new impetus" but require additional "work," according to Kyiv and the European Union. Urgent negotiations were convened based on a 28-point plan proposed by Donald Trump, which is considered favorable to Moscow. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged the progress but stressed that more is needed to achieve a "real peace." European allies have supported that there is a solid basis for advancement, but no new version of the plan has been published. In the context of ongoing tensions, Russia has claimed territorial conquests, and airstrikes on Ukraine have increased, amplifying fears for the upcoming winter.
