The European Parliament has decided to suspend the implementation procedure of the trade agreement with the United States, concluded in the summer of 2025, following the new tariffs announced by Donald Trump. The President of the International Trade Committee, Bernd Lange, will propose the suspension of activities related to this agreement, supported by several MEPs.
They are seeking clarifications from the United States regarding the new tariffs announced by Trump, which have been increased from 10% to 15%. The agreement, intensely negotiated, limited the tariffs imposed by the US to 15% for European products, in exchange for the elimination of European tariffs on American imports.
The European Commission has emphasized expectations for the US to respect the commitments made, requesting clarifications regarding future measures.
