The European Commissioner for Defense, Andrius Kubilius, warned that Europe must be prepared to compensate for a possible reduction in the military presence of the United States on the continent. According to the European official, Washington could soon transfer military equipment and capabilities to other regions of the world, which would force European states to strengthen their own defense capabilities. Kubilius emphasized that Europe still largely depends on American strategic support, including in the fields of intelligence and in-flight refueling, estimating that the necessary investments to strengthen European defense could reach approximately 500 billion euros.
