The European Commission has launched BE READY, a new European partnership aimed at preparing for pandemics, with the goal of strengthening the Union's ability to anticipate, prevent, and respond quickly to epidemics. The initiative is funded with 120 million euros from the Horizon Europe budget and will launch annual transnational calls to stimulate collaboration in the health sector.

BE READY brings together 81 organizations from 27 countries and is coordinated by ANRS-Infectious Emerging Diseases-MIE from France. The first transnational call will focus on research into emerging pathogenic agents and the development of innovative medical countermeasures.

European commissioners emphasized the importance of a solid scientific basis for pandemic preparedness, highlighting that BE READY transforms research into concrete solutions for health crises.
