The European Union, through the head of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas, announced that it is considering opening at least two training camps for Ukrainian soldiers in Ukraine, in the context of a possible cessation of hostilities.

Kallas made these statements during a meeting of defense ministers from EU member states, mentioning that discussions included training Ukrainian soldiers on Ukrainian territory. Additionally, the EU has already trained approximately 90,000 Ukrainian soldiers outside the country, as part of the military support provided to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion in February 2022. Furthermore, several European states, such as the United Kingdom and France, have expressed their willingness to send troops to Ukraine once a peace agreement is reached, a situation that Russia contests, warning that European soldiers would become 'legitimate targets.'
