The European Commission has sent a 'note verbale' to Paraguay, thus completing the final procedural step for the provisional application of the trade agreement between the European Union and the Mercosur countries. The agreement will come into force on May 1 for Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay, which have completed their ratifications.
The provisional application will eliminate tariffs on certain products, benefiting businesses, consumers, and farmers in the EU. It will also facilitate collaboration on global issues such as workers' rights and climate change. The Commissioner for Trade, Maroš Šefčovič, emphasized the importance of this agreement for the EU economy and trade opportunities. Exporters will have access to information through the Access2Markets platform.
