The Patriot missiles, among Ukraine's urgent requests. A EU meeting will take place on September 7 to analyze the request.

The European Commission has received a request from Ukraine for funding of several billion euros for the purchase of PAC-3 missiles intended for Patriot systems. According to Ursula von der Leyen, the amount could be covered by the European loan of 90 billion euros aimed at supporting Ukraine. This request will be discussed in a meeting scheduled for September 7.

PAC-3 interceptors are essential for Ukraine's air defense, but the global shortage of such equipment has increased the vulnerability of Ukrainian cities to Russian attacks.

Although approval is not automatic, it is estimated that the request will be accepted, considering the precedent from April when the EU allowed Ukraine to purchase Chinese components for drones.

Approved by a qualified majority, Ukraine's request could be supported by the majority of member states, despite the global shortage of available interceptors.

EU foreign ministers will meet in Ireland to discuss additional support for Ukraine's defense.
