This measure, proposed by a working group within the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), could have significant consequences for hospitals, schools, and other public spaces, where alcohol-based products are essential for preventing infections. Any potential restriction on the use of ethanol in biocidal products could create a public health issue, considering that there is no equally effective substitute.
