Dubravka Šuica, European Commissioner for relations with Mediterranean countries, will participate in Washington at the first official meeting of the Peace Council, created by Donald Trump. Although the majority of EU member states have rejected formal membership, Brussels does not give up on cooperation and will obtain observer status to contribute to the council's initiatives.

Italy, Romania, and Cyprus have announced that they will participate in the same way. The EU, the largest donor of humanitarian aid to Palestinians, wants to play a role in the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, despite concerns regarding the structure and governance of the council. The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, will represent the country in discussions, emphasizing the desire to maintain good relations with the Trump administration.
