Archaeologists in Italy have confirmed the discovery of the remains of Vitruvius' Basilica, a historic moment described by the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, as "the Tutankhamun of the 21st century." The building, designed by the Roman architect Vitruvius and completed in 19 BC, was found in the town of Fano, in the Marche region.
Vitruvius, known for his architectural principles, mentioned this basilica in his work "De Architectura," the only surviving architectural treatise from Antiquity. The mayor of Fano, Luca Serfilippi, emphasized the importance of this discovery, which will change the history of architecture and archaeology. Minister Giuli compared this discovery to the finding of Tutankhamun's tomb, highlighting its impact on historical research. This achievement offers a new perspective on the architectural legacy of ancient Rome and the influence of Vitruvius.
