The amendment to the penal code allows up to five years in prison for promoting communist or Nazi movements that undermine human rights. The revision was initiated after calls from Czech institutions, but the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia criticized it as an attempt to remove them from the political landscape. Although they have no representatives in parliament, polls suggest they could return in the October elections.
