The British police managed to arrest Hadush Kebatu, a migrant from Ethiopia, who was sentenced to 12 months in prison for sexual assault against a teenager and a woman. Kebatu was mistakenly released from prison and was on the run for about three days. Information received from the public led the police to Finsbury Park, where he was located and apprehended.
Commander James Conway stated that the operation was swift and well-coordinated, involving specialized officers from the Metropolitan Police. His release sparked protests outside the hotel where he was staying, amplifying tensions related to immigration in the UK. Kebatu was spotted in the city center of Chelmsford after his release, where he sought help from several people. He will now be returned to the custody of the Prison Service.
