The UK government intends to ask companies Apple and Google to implement features in mobile operating systems (iOS and Android) that block nudity, as part of efforts to protect children from explicit content.

The ban will target both the creation and distribution of nude content, as well as its display. Additionally, companies will be required to implement age verification to ensure that the restrictions are adhered to. The British government joins other entities that believe these restrictions are more effective at the operating system level than at the level of each individual application. For now, the request is not a mandatory imposition.
