The antisemitic attack on Bondi Beach in Sydney, which took place on Sunday, was carried out by a father and his son, resulting in 15 deaths and over 40 injuries. One of the attackers, Sajid Akram, was shot dead by police, while his son, Naveed Akram, was hospitalized in critical condition. According to the Australian ABC channel, Naveed Akram had been investigated in 2019 by Australian intelligence services for links to the Islamic State group. The investigation was triggered after he was suspected of connections with a member of IS arrested for planning a terrorist act. Authorities found two IS flags in the attackers' vehicle, and the head of the internal intelligence services mentioned that one of the attackers was known but was not considered an immediate threat. The New South Wales police did not confirm the information presented by ABC.
