The ATM located at the entrance of the City Hall in Nevestino ran out of euros shortly after being replenished on December 31, according to reports from local media. In this context, residents continue to use Bulgarian lev for their daily purchases. The local shops are prepared to accept both payments in euros and in lev, and transactions can also be made with a card.

Vice Mayor Yordan Glogov stated that the use of lev is expected to persist at least until the end of January, mentioning that people will spend lev until they receive their pensions in euros, which could encourage currency exchange. Bulgaria officially adopted the euro on January 1, 2026, but the transition has been marked by logistical difficulties and confusion in the first days.
