The conflict on the Thai-Cambodian border has escalated, leaving 33 people dead and 71 wounded, and more than 138,000 people have been evacuated. The Thai prime minister accused Cambodia of deploying heavy weapons and said the situation could escalate into war. Both countries accuse each other of attacks on civilians. The US and China have called for an end to hostilities, while Thailand has rejected the possibility of external mediation, calling for bilateral talks. Relations between the two countries have been strained over the years, with unresolved territorial disputes.
