The electoral map changes backed by Donald Trump could allow Republicans to gain five additional seats in the US Congress. With 25 Republican lawmakers out of 38, the aim is to increase the number to 30. Democrats, a minority in the Texas legislature, have tried to resist, accusing "racist gerrymandering" that dilutes minority votes. In response, California also plans to redraw its electoral map to win additional seats.
