The removal of the Ukrainian flag from the center of the capital of Kosovo and the protests in front of the Ukrainian Embassy in Tirana have amplified regional tensions following statements by President Volodymyr Zelensky, who reaffirmed that Ukraine does not change its position regarding the non-recognition of Kosovo's independence.

Protesters in Tirana chanted slogans in favor of the Kosovo Liberation Army and hurled insults at Zelensky. The authorities in Kosovo reacted by removing the 'Free Ukraine' flag from the Grand Hotel building, with Mayor Perparim Rama emphasizing the importance of respecting Kosovo's sovereignty. Zelensky stated that Ukraine's policy remains unchanged, and his position has been criticized by Kosovo officials, including the interim Foreign Minister, Glauk Konjufca, who called the statements 'regrettable.' This situation has generated tensions both politically and in the public space in Kosovo.
