Tensions between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have intensified following Israeli and American attacks on Iranian nuclear sites in June, which prevented UN inspectors from accessing them. Rafael Grossi, the head of the IAEA, has urged Tehran to allow access to the main nuclear sites, and the agency's board of governors has adopted a resolution supported by the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, urging Iran to comply with its legal obligations and cooperate with the IAEA.

Iran, through its foreign minister Abbas Araghchi, condemned the vote, accusing these countries of undermining the credibility of the IAEA. The IAEA has requested verification of enriched uranium stocks, noting that Iran possesses approximately 44.9 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%, close to the amount needed for a nuclear bomb. Iran denies the allegations of attempting to develop nuclear weapons.
