In 2025, countries such as France, Germany, Italy and Sweden are reintroducing temporary internal border controls due to security threats, illegal migration and international events. For example, Spain will impose controls from June 27 to July 5 and Italy will check its border with Slovenia from June 19 to December 18. Other countries such as Austria, the Netherlands and Denmark will have similar measures and travelers are advised to have the necessary documents and expect delays.
