The Ministry of National Defense of Taiwan announced that it detected 89 Chinese warplanes on the first day of military exercises conducted by Beijing, named 'Mission Justice-2025'. These maneuvers are taking place as a warning to 'separatist forces' in Taiwan, amid rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait. Lieutenant General Hsieh Jih-sheng specified that 67 aircraft entered Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ), and the armed forces also detected 14 Chinese warships, as well as vessels from the Coast Guard.

The exercises focus on seven air and maritime zones near the island and include live-fire drills. Taiwan, which has been self-governing since 1949, is viewed by Beijing as part of its territory, and the pressure campaign for reunification has intensified in recent years.
