Taiwan's Defense Ministry reported that it has detected 21 Chinese military aircraft, including fighter jets and drones, patrolling around the island. Of these, 15 crossed the Taiwan Strait center line. The maneuvers are considered provocative, coming shortly after a telephone conversation between the US and Chinese presidents. China continues to consider Taiwan part of its territory and does not rule out the use of force to reintegrate it.
