In April, exports of Swiss watches to the US rose by an exceptional 149.2% to 851.9 million francs in April, accounting for 33% of total exports. This explosion in shipments was driven by concerns about tariffs imposed by the Trump Administration. Without this increase, total watch exports would have fallen by 6.4%. Although other markets showed modest growth, Asian demand fell significantly. The watch industry, crucial to the Swiss economy, generates 10% of exports and 57,000 jobs.
