Indonesia's Geology Agency has reported strong eruptions of Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki volcano, which generated pyroclastic clouds that descended down slopes up to 5km. Movement of magma and seismic tremors are being reported, and heavy rainstorms can cause dangerous torrential lava flows. This eruption is being compared to the 2010 Merapi eruption, which had devastating consequences. Indonesia, located on the Pacific Ring of Fire, is highly vulnerable to volcanic activity.
