Steve Witkoff, the special envoy of the USA, will meet on Thursday in Miami with Rustem Umerov, the head of the National Security Council of Ukraine, for discussions about the war in Ukraine. This meeting follows five hours of negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which did not yield significant progress. American President Donald Trump stated that the discussions were promising but emphasized that it is too early for conclusions. The Ukrainian Foreign Minister urged Russia to stop the violence, accusing Putin of wasting time. President Zelensky mentioned a real opportunity to end the conflict but stressed the need for pressure on Russia. The negotiations take place in the context of concerns that peace proposals could favor Russia, and discussions about Ukraine's NATO membership remain a point of contention. Additionally, Russia has accused Europe of sabotage in relations with the USA, while British officials have dismissed Putin's claims. The European Commission is also proposing a 90 billion euro plan to support Ukraine, and 90 countries have called on Russia to return the deported Ukrainian children.
