Slovakia is taking measures to discourage tourism for fuel

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced that the government in Bratislava is considering regulations that would impose higher prices on diesel for foreign drivers or limit their fuel supply. This measure comes in response to the increase in fuel purchases from counties in northern Slovakia, where lower prices attract tourists from Poland. Fico mentioned that some gas stations have been "drained" due to increased demand. In the context of global concerns about rising fuel prices due to conflicts in the Middle East, Slovakia wants prices comparable to those in neighboring countries, such as Poland, but lower than in Austria. Until now, Slovak authorities have relied on market self-regulation, but are now considering stricter measures.
