Prime Minister Robert Fico announced the approval of an agreement with the United States for the construction of a nuclear reactor at the Jaslovske Bohunice power plant, with a capacity of over 1,000 megawatts. The project, estimated at 15 billion euros, will be state-owned and is part of Slovakia's strategy to respond to the increasing energy consumption. Negotiations for the construction are taking place with the American company Westinghouse, reflecting a regional trend of nuclear energy expansion in Central Europe.
