Prime Minister Robert Fico has obtained a favorable vote for an amendment that limits the rights of same-sex couples and complicates gender change for intersex individuals. Adopted with 90 votes out of 99, the amendment supports cultural traditions and defines sex as exclusively male and female. Additionally, adoption is reserved only for married heterosexual couples. The Venice Commission has warned Slovakia not to create conflicts between cultural norms and international treaties.
