Siemens AG has announced layoffs of about 6,000 employees globally, including 2,850 in Germany, mainly in its industrial automation division. The decision follows weak demand in key markets and high inventory levels. Although the company expects business to improve this year, it will adjust production capacities. Siemens emphasizes that the total number of employees in Germany will remain constant, thanks to recruitment in other growth areas.
