Shein, a controversial name in the fast fashion industry, will open its first permanent physical store in Western Europe on November 5, in the BHV building in Paris. This move marks an important milestone in the brand's expansion strategy, which until now has focused exclusively on online retail.
The announcement was made by Société des Grands Magasins, the owner of BHV, and the opening has generated strong reactions from the public, considering the scandals related to Shein's production conditions. The store will occupy the 6th floor of BHV, offering thousands of clothing items at reduced prices. Despite criticism regarding the lack of transparency and negative ecological impact, Shein plans to open five more stores in France by the end of November.
