Three Italian climbers have already been identified as victims of an avalanche that struck a group of 12 people at the base camp on Yalung Ri peak. Local authorities have stated that they have no information about the missing persons, who may be trekkers, not climbers, considering that they have not officially registered for ascents. Communications are difficult due to severe weather conditions, and Cyclone Montha has brought massive precipitation, stranding many tourists on the trails in the Himalayas. Recent avalanches have led to the deaths of nine people, including climbers from other nationalities.
