The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, stated that the country will launch a large-scale rearmament program, mentioning the need to strengthen defense in the face of alleged attack plans from Croatia, Albania, and Kosovo. Vucic emphasized that the security situation has deteriorated, especially since January, due to the actions of the "Tirana-Zagreb-Pristina alliance."

He announced significant acquisitions, including hypersonic missiles from China, and proposed the digitalization of the armed forces, increasing drone production, and strengthening air defense. Serbia's military spending has increased significantly, being about six times higher than that of Albania between 2020 and 2024.

Criticism from neighbors, who consider the rearmament a threat, has been dismissed by Belgrade. Serbia, a militarily neutral country, seeks a balance between partnerships with NATO and relations with Russia and China.
