Selma Blair, accused of assaults during a flight and after landing in New York / The actress paid $20,000 bail

Actress Selma Blair was brought before the court on Monday evening, October 12, after allegedly assaulting two flight attendants during a Delta Air Lines flight to JFK Airport in New York. According to the allegations, she allegedly struck one crew member and bit a second.

After landing, Blair allegedly continued to behave violently. According to the criminal complaint, the actress allegedly freed her leg from the stretcher straps and repeatedly struck a police officer in the face, neck, and chest while she was being transported by ambulance. She later allegedly struck a nurse in the chest. The two crew members and the medical personnel reported injuries and pain, and one of the flight attendants was hospitalized.

The actress's attorney maintains that it was not an intentional assault. He stated that Blair had missed several doses of a medication prescribed for severe neurological symptoms related to multiple sclerosis. The defense also cited accumulated fatigue from filming, as well as a fall during the flight, in which the actress allegedly hit her head. These factors, together with the altitude, allegedly caused a severe state of confusion and disorientation.

Judge Indira Kahn set bail at $20,000 in cash or a $60,000 bond. Blair paid the bail, and the next hearing is scheduled for January 19. The actress could also be charged with a federal offense punishable by up to one year in prison. The allegations have not yet been resolved by the court.
