Scott Bessent, the US Treasury Secretary, assured that the United States will never default on its debt on Face the Nation. He dismissed investors' fears about the federal debt, stressing that President Trump's budget proposal, which could increase the deficit, will not affect the country's financial stability. Bessent also noted that revenues from new tariffs could significantly help reduce the deficit. Criticism from the likes of Elon Musk and JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon did not deter Bessent, who reiterated his confidence in US debt management.
